Good-bye windmills and AstroTurf; hello, GN Dance Floor!
Debuting in June 2022, The Dance Floor is not just a playful nod to golf lingo—it’s a fully illuminated, 27-hole bentgrass putting course designed for golfers and non-golfers alike. Located just steps from the Clubhouse and nestled between Palmer 18 and lush resort grounds, this one-acre entertainment experience redefines what it means to “hit the greens” in Lake Geneva.
“In the new era of golf, accessibility and fun are the drivers,” says Glen Murray, COO of Geneva National. “With The Dance Floor, we’re welcoming everyone—whether you’re a scratch golfer or don’t know a driver from a sand wedge.”
Featuring scenic lake views, multiple elevation changes, punch bowl and volcano plateau holes, and distances ranging from 20 to 80 feet, The Dance Floor brings serious variety—and serious fun. Add in a house-curated soundtrack, an interactive jukebox app, and nighttime lighting, and you’ve got a putting party under the stars.
Designed by Wisconsin landscape architect Craig Haltom—whose inspiration comes from the legendary Himalayas course in St. Andrews, Scotland—The Dance Floor offers an ever-changing layout. “We call it 27 holes, but with movable cups and shifting routes, you could play a different course every time,” Haltom notes.
Surrounding the course, guests will find Baggo, bocce, firepits, and a taco cantina—because why not spice up your short game with a margarita or mocktail in hand?
The Dance Floor also brings a competitive twist, with a slate of tournaments on tap. Geneva National Members will kick off the course’s championship calendar on August 4, followed by the Wisconsin Junior PGA’s Junior Putting Championship and the inaugural Wisconsin State Golf Association amateur putting title. True to its mission of inclusivity, the latter event will feature men and women competing together.
Not all the fun is reserved for competitors. Geneva National is launching an online contest offering fans the chance to putt alongside social media sensation and golf pro Paige Spiranac. It’s just one more way GN is opening the game to a new generation of players and fans.
Open to GN Members and resort guests at no charge—and available to the public for a fee—The Dance Floor is also rentable for group events. Whether you’re hosting a corporate outing, celebrating a milestone, or just gathering the crew for a one-of-a-kind golf experience, Geneva National has set the stage for unforgettable fun.
